Saturdays in Israel

Jews celebrate the Sabbath beginning on sundown of Friday. This means that many shops begin to close Friday afternoons and don't open again until Sunday. Public transportation is also halted. So what are some fun activities to do on a Saturday in Israel?

1. In the summer - the beach is #1! 2. Experience an authentic Shabbat in an observant neighborhood (Jerusalem and Tzfat are the best) 3. Go on a winery tour 4. Visit Akko, Nazareth, or the Druze Village - Dalyat El Carmel 5. Visit museums - the Israel Museum, Tower of David, and the Children's Museum are my favorites. 6. Fruit picking of the seasonal fruit 7. Enjoy one of Israel's countless nature hikes 8. Pick up roadside Jachnun or stop for a Druze Pita 9. Join a local festival 10. Go to an archaeological excavation site and dig dig dig!

And many more! With a little planning ahead of time, you can have an unforgettable Sabbath. Shabbat Shalom!
